Mechanics may feel familiar to veteran players who have been raiding in previous expansions. Target changing, moving out of things on the floor, taunts and interrupts for tanks are all back in these new raids but now they might happens all at once.

For all the hardcore players this is where all your ranting and raving about not taking noobs to raids will finally pay off. No longer will they be able to be boosted through an encounter they will just be a nice dead body on the floor. Much as many would enjoy leaving them as a dead body most encounters do require all ten players to be alive and kicking, one healer can't save the entire raid neither can three damage dealers kill a boss alone.

Its new unforgiving encounters will be a welcome challenge for all the serious gamers in Azeroth and a nightmare for all those who need to learn to play. Keyboard turners will not even get half a turn before their lives are extinguished, prepare your face-palm macros now.

There are a few new tactics to learn with the new expansion, mainly the art of multi-tasking. Running away from adds whilst you attack a boss or heal a friendly target will be a common feature in Cataclysm game play. Key binding players will shine here allowing maximum spell usage in their style of game play and quick reactions are going to be a must.

Raid set-up will be greatly important in these new raids as each encounter will require a slightly different composition. Whether it's one or two tanks, raid healers or single target big heals will all decide the classes and specs of players you will need to take in order to have a successful raid.

Getting the simple things right will make the Cataclysm 10 man raids an enjoyable but incredibly steep and fast learning curve. See how many of them you can engage and overcome this year but as always one small mistake could cost you the kill so make sure you are well prepared for what lies ahead for you and your comrades.
