Are you one of the unfortunate ones dealing with the dreaded YLOD. It can be frustrating to have to deal with the dreaded yellow light of death, but it doesn't have to be. There is a repair guide that can walk you through any problem you have with your PS3 Playstation in a flash. Don't struggle with PS3 repairs needlessly.
Before you give up on any problem you're having with your PS3 Playstation, read this article and do a little further research and discover how to make PS3 repairs on your own. It isn't that difficult, even if you're not that technically adept.
It may seem that the best solution is to send your PS3 unit back to Sony or find a local repair place. The problem is that both cost money and time. In addition, the local repair shop gives no guarantees.
Although I'm not a terribly technical person, I decided to do a little research online instead of shipping my grandsons PS3 playstation back to Sony. I decided that I would try to fix it first before taking that step.
One idea you might try is to press and hold down the power button until you hear three beeps. You may also just turn your unit off and let it cool down for awhile. The PS3 is famous for overheating.
If your PS3 freezes, don't assume it's the unit itself. It may be the game you're playing so try changing games and see what happens. If it doesn't freeze with another game, you have your answer.
Don't assume that a PS3 failure is a hardware failure or something that serious. Of course you could have a bad motherboard, power supply, hard drive, etc., but not necessarily. My suggestion is to do what I did and find a good, inexpensive repair guide and determine what is actually wrong.
PS3 problems are not that difficult if the above tips don't solve your problems. I am a non-technical person and to be honest I'm also not the best handyman you'll ever meet. I found a repair guide that took me step by step in my quest to make PS3 repairs for my grandsons playstation and he now thinks I'm a genius.
