Why Sudoku Is Something Everyone Should Try

When you know the numbers from 1 to 9 you can play Sudoku. In the simplest of versions, these 9 boxes each containing 9 boxes are easy to solve - and might only take a few minutes. These are often found in newspapers and magazines. At the other end some of the more difficult Sudokus could take hours to solve. In the beginning, I found this game somewhat uninteresting. But once I tried to solve one of these I found them highly fascinating.

In the most common versions of Sudoku you will come across you will have nine boxes with nine boxes in them. This gives you a 81 box matrix, which you need to fill out with the numbers from one to nine. Each of the 1-9 elements form part of nine boxes that are three wide and three high. You can not put the same number in the same horizontal or vertical row and only once in each of the systems.

Sudoku has become very popular throughout Europe. Over the past few years this has followed the steady decline in popularity of crossword puzzles. The puzzles were become way to complex and people just couldn't be bothered with them anymore. The Sudoku puzzles are however widely avilable in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels to cater to everyone. Single handedly Sudoku has been responsible for a revival in puzzle games on a grand scale.

There has been a lot of business around Sudoku over the past few years. This has been in papers and magazines, but also in other formats. A very popular one these days is through small handheld computers with just Sudoku on it. These allow you to then play at any time and there are loads of puzzles on each of them. You can also get hints on these little computers to allow you to progress through difficult parts of the game.

Sudoku has also been created in a hexadecimal version where their are 16 numbers per box. In these versions the numbers 1 - 9 are still used, but A=10, B=11 and so on up to G=16. The hexadecimal numbers are most commonly understood by experienced computer users. It is often used in programming and therefore will be lost on most people.

It goes without saying that Sudoku has definitely grabbed the attention of everyone and that it has become a widely enjoy mind game.
