This article is going to take a look at the world of Free Flash Games, an overlooked yet ever growing side of the gaming industry. These free games may not have the same big budget quality of graphics or intensive game play that fully downloadable games or CD-Roms and console titles possess, however they do still often have an equal or even greater addictive game play quality.
It is probably true that these free games will not become ultra graphic rich or have 100s of intense and heavy levels like full production games, or at least not any time soon. However it is worth noting that developments in Internet connectivity around the world and the improvements in the source code used by many flash developers is greatly improving, in turn enabling many more feature rich and elaborate free flash games to be developed. The main issue of course is budget and time, which premium games of course have an edge over the free developer doing it for the love.
Budget is also why the finishing touches on free flash games are not as good as premium produced games. Voice actors may often be replaced by some text 2 speech software giving a robotic voice, or just generally not a very clear or easy to understand voice. One are though that could probably be ranked as equal would be the general storyline. In fact some flash games have crazy mad story lines you would never get a chance to see in a premium game as it may just be too extreme or even offensive!
You can find many flash games with extremely imaginative plots. The story line of a flash game isnt limited or restricted by a team or a panel of people who have to approve of it. No, the flash game developer can make a game do whatever they like, and the story can be whatever they can imagine. A flash developer does not worry about if the story will be offensive, only if it will work well with the game they want to make. Take a look around any big flash games site and check out some of the games, you will find some crazy ideas and stories!
So think about this dear reader - what is your favorite flash game? How about your favorite fantasy world? Or your favorite heroes, villains, characters? What about your favorite theme? Is it nasty medieval Dragons vs. Humans, or scary Aliens vs. Humans? Maybe it's two separate races fighting for control of the humans?
