There are so many forms of entertainment out there today of which video games are just one. If you are looking for information it is available in so many mediums and in many instances you can also interact with it. There is however a problem sometimes with the content of video games that gets very violent or of a very explicit nature.
Review boards look at the games and assess them and then grade them accordingly. They will look at the games' content and some of these games have been banned and were not available for sale in some countries. The question is whether or not this is a good practice.
You wouldn't want your children to get their hands on video games filled with excessive violence or sexual scenes. This goes for movies as well and you should treat video games in the same way as these types of movies you don't want your children to watch. Games are often rated as being of a mature nature and these should only be played by adults. These are however often left lying around and this is often how children get their hands on it and play games that they actually shouldn't.
This doesn't make sense because an adult should be able to make their own entertainment choices. It's highly unlikely that an adult who plays a sexual or violent game does not see violence and sex in books, radio, movies, and on the internet on a regular basis. What are these laws protecting adults from? Have they really not seen this kind of material before?
It's seems a bit unprincipled to ban one form of entertainment but allow the rest. There are plenty of images just on the internet alone that are more horrific, violent, and sexual than a game has ever been. If you are looking for it, you will be able to find it extremely easily and this makes it difficult to regulate all forms of media and protect our children.
