The relevance of of Dvds and CDs have hardly diminished despite the presence of other new storage media. You would still find people with lots of music on CDs and movies on Dvds. Many companies still archive their past data in CDs or Dvds. If you have never lost data or a highly cherished music or video, then you would not at all understand the importance of protecting these media. It is however better not to find out for yourself by ensuring you take steps to protect your storage media properly.
