This is easy if you want to write about a hobby of yours. This way you will not consider the website creation as work and when you are writing you will have tons of ideas about that subject. Of course that if your passion is cars, you can make a website about cars but, you will enter on a very competitive market and it will be hard to obtain visitors for your website, considering that the market is already saturated with old and very well developed websites about cars.

Later it will come the financial reward (if you will monetize your website) but I feel that is more important that you will feel accomplished when you are doing this.

Now go to Google's keyword research tool (click here for the tool) and look for a few keywords and suggestions to see how many monthly searches Google has for those keywords. This way you could see what people are looking for.

After you have a good idea on what everyone is searching for, open Google.com in your internet browser and search for the exact keywords. This manner you will see your direct competition. It is always important to discover your competition!
